The Portuguese Association for Pattern Recognition (APRP) has, as one of its objectives, the promotion of advances, both in theory and in practical applications, of the scientific discipline of pattern recognition. As such, it has an active role in the following multi-institutional awards.

Aurora Pons Porrata Award

This international prize is awarded annually at the CIARP to a female researcher, in recognition of an outstanding scientific contribution in the areas of pattern recognition, data mining and related areas.

We welcome nominations for the Aurora Pons Porrata (APP) Award. This annual Ibero-American award is given to a living woman in recognition of an outstanding technical contribution in the field of pattern recognition or data mining. It consists of a sum of money, a duly inscribed certificate and a medal.

Any woman from the Ibero-American region can be nominated, with the exception of current members of the APP Award Committee.

To begin the nominations, each Iberoamerican Pattern Recognition Society must evaluate and select the candidates to be nominated for the Aurora Pons Porrata Award. Then, the resumes of the finalist candidates will be forwarded to the APP Award Coordination. Each nomination could be endorsed by at least one letter of endorsement from a member of an Ibero-American Society for Pattern Recognition other than the nominee.

All proposals received from Local Committees will be evaluated by an Awards Committee which will select the winner. This committee will be composed of three prestigious researchers from all over the world.

Electronic resumes and endorsement letters must be submitted by June 12, 2023. The winning candidate will be announced at CIARP 2023.

Please forward your details by email to the coordinator of the APP Award Commission,
