APRP Best PhD Thesis Award

The Portuguese Association for Pattern Recognition (APRP) aims to promote advances, both in theory and practical applications, in the scientific discipline of pattern recognition.

In accordance with this stance, APRP institutes the APRP Awards to distinguish works of high merit and stimulate young researchers to publish their work.

Requirements

  • The thesis must have been defended at a Portuguese higher education institution;
  • The thesis must be in the field of pattern recognition;
  • The candidate must be under 36 years old at the time of the thesis defense;
  • Defended between ... and ...;
  • Written in Portuguese or English;
  • Works must have a single author; submission constitutes an honor pledge of authenticity.

Award Value

  • Certificate;
  • Free Registration for RecPad;
  • Monetary prize of ... Euros.

Applications

Until ..., by sending a zip file to the email ... containing:

a) A PDF copy of the PhD dissertation;
b) A recommendation letter from the supervisor;
c) A recommendation letter from the arguer (optional but encouraged);
d) The author's Curriculum Vitae;
e) Degree completion certificate.

The email 'subject' must include "...".

Evaluation

The works, which must be submitted individually, are evaluated by a jury consisting of a group of Portuguese scientists of high international prestige and recognized leaders in the main areas of knowledge associated with the Award, and by an APRP representative.

The Jury reserves the right not to award any prize if it decides that none of the submitted works meet the quality and innovation requirements or conform to the rules of this regulation. The Jury is sovereign in its decisions and reserves the right to request any clarifications regarding the submitted works.

The Award will be announced at the ... international conference and publicly disclosed.
